The 80/20 Wellness Rule
If you’ve ever been stuck in an all-or-nothing wellness cycle, the problem isn’t you. It’s the approach.

If you’ve ever tried to “be healthier” and found yourself stuck in an all-or-nothing cycle, you’re not alone. One week you’re eating clean, working out, dialed in. The next? Life happens, travel, work, kids, stress, and suddenly it feels like you’ve fallen off track. So you start over. Again. And again.
But here’s the truth: the problem isn’t you. It’s the approach.
Why Perfection Is the Fastest Path to Burnout
High-achieving women are wired for excellence. We like structure, discipline, results. But when that mindset gets applied to wellness, it often backfires, because perfection creates pressure, restriction, and unrealistic expectations. And eventually? Burnout.
The Shift That Changes Everything: 80/20 Living
This is one of the most important principles I live by and teach: 80% intentional, 20% joyful. Not 100% perfect, 0% flexibility. Because a lifestyle that feels restrictive will never last.
The 80% (Your Foundation)
This is where you focus on habits that support your body:
- Whole, nutrient-dense foods
- Strength training and movement
- Quality sleep
- Nervous system regulation
- Daily routines that create stability
The 20% (Your Life)
This is where you live, dinner out with friends, a glass of wine, travel, dessert, spontaneous moments. This is what makes life enjoyable. And ironically? It’s what makes the 80% sustainable.
Why This Works
When you’re consistent most of the time, your metabolism stabilizes, your blood sugar is more regulated, and your body becomes more resilient, which means occasional indulgences don’t derail you. They’re simply part of the rhythm.
Real wellness isn’t built in perfect weeks. It’s built in busy weeks, travel weeks, and stressful seasons.
How to Apply 80/20 Starting Today
1. Anchor Your Non-Negotiables
Pick 3–5 habits that matter most, protein at meals, daily movement (especially after meals), a sleep routine, hydration. No matter what’s happening, these stay.
2. Plan for Real Life
Instead of reacting to indulgences, expect them. Dinner plans? Enjoy it. Then return to your 80% the next day. No guilt, no overcorrection.
3. Stop “Starting Over”
You don’t need a reset every Monday. You just need your next aligned choice.
4. Zoom Out
One meal doesn’t define you. One weekend doesn’t define you. What matters is your overall pattern.
Your New Rule
Instead of asking “Was I perfect today?” ask “Was I mostly aligned?” Because that’s where real progress happens. This week: choose 3 non-negotiables, let go of perfection, and allow space for life. Simple. Strategic. Sustainable. Welcome to your SUPERWELL rhythm.
